Sunday 21st December v Prestatyn Ladies (a)
Sunday 11th January v Pwllheli (a)
It is not every day that you get to achieve something that very few other people can say they have also done. But our very own Linda McKeogh fell into that category on a glorious afternoon in the basking sunshine at Connah's Quay on Tuesday 29th May 2012.
Mold Road became the perfect backdrop for Airbus Ladies to congratulate Linda and all that she has done for the club. Standing tall in her smart white tracksuit Linda became a hero and idol the moment she stepped off the Olympic bus. Children rushed to her side to have photographs taken and parents were not far behind to soak up the atmosphere and thrill
of the moment.
Airbus stood back and admired their leader, before having the chance to join in with the excitement and stand proud next to Linda as the joy of her time finally arriving hit everyone.
Her moment to shine arrived a few minutes later as the torchbearer before her arrived. The flame was transferred across and Linda held her torch aloft as everyone took in the moment of glory and the satisfaction that Linda was at long last getting her chance to shine on her own.
The smile on face was not going to be wiped away as she strode down the road full of pride and confidence as the crowds cheered her on in jubilation.
Her family and friends were there to watch her all the way, celebrating her triumph.
Her sister was there to greet her first as she finished her moment to shine, sharing a wonderful embrace before Linda was rushed back into the bus.
That was not to be the end of Linda's day though. It was felt that a day like that needed to be finished in style to really thank Linda for all that she has done and continues to do, not just for Airbus Ladies but for all those that have been lucky enough to meet Linda. She is a credit to us all and is always the life and soul of everything that she participates in. So to thank her, we threw her a little surprise party.
There are not many times when you get the opportunity to see Linda speechless and astounded but she will probably be the first to admit she had absolutely no idea what was happening that evening until everyone jumped up and shouted "surprise". The look on her face and her little jumping dance will no doubt stay with everyone forever, that moment cannot be forgotten.
Unfortunately it is not always possible to show appreciation for someone that truly deserves it but this was Airbus Ladies way of making sure Linda had her moment to shine for the entire day.
The team will be forever grateful for everything. . . everything Linda.
To have so many of Linda's loved ones there for the evening was a perfect way to celebrate her and all that she does for us all. From neighbours, friends and family, it was a true tribute to Linda.
Everyone had a fantastic night and were delighted and honoured to spend the evening with not only a legend but an OLYMPIC TORCHBEARER!
Some people go through life and leave it as they found it. But people like you take the time to do special things for others that make the world a better place. Simply saying thank you never seems enough so a day like the 29th May just goes a little way to showing our appreciation to you. We've heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason bringing something we must learn and we are led to those who help us most to grow if we let them and we help them in return, we are who we are today because we knew you. Thank you Linda, may this memory last forever.
